Liv Elin Torheim is professor of Public Health Nutrition at Oslo Metropolitan University – OsloMet – in Norway. She has more than 20 years experience in dietary assessment research in various African and Asian countries and has had a strong focus on developing and validating indicators for diet quality. Her research interests besides dietary assessment are maternal and child nutrition, food and nutrition policy, and food and nutrition as human rights. At OsloMet she is head of the research group, Public Health Nutrition, and she is involved in teaching and supervision in addition to research. She is also appointed vice-chair of the Norwegian National Nutrition Council, advising the Norwegian health authorities.
