Utilizing Dietary Nutrient Ratios in Nutritional Research: Expanding the Concept of Nutrient Ratios to Macronutrients

This paper shows how the concept of nutrient ratios can be expanded to macronutrients to reflect that dietary constituents such as proteins, carbohydrates, and saturated fats are not consumed in isolation but in combination; and that assessing diet quality requires understanding the complexity of the diet in its entirety.
