Statistical Methods for Estimating Usual Intake of Nutrients and Foods: A Review of the Theory

This paper describes the statistical theory that underlies four different modeling methods developed to estimate the distribution of usual intake and reviews the strengths and limitations of each approach, with special attention to the issue of episodically consumed foods and food groups.
