Food Photographs: Practical Guidelines - I. Design and Analysis of Studies to Validate Portion Size Estimates

This paper describes the steps that need to be considered to validate food photographs when estimating the amount of food consumed. Recommendations are provided on the characteristics and the number of subjects needed, the study design, as well as the types of analyses to be performed.
